Really interesting trail options with some offering a little challenge, once you're off the access paths. Good idea to download the map online before you go or take a picture of the map at the parking lot. Trails are marked but can be challenging to determine your exact spot. We found quite a few trees that had fallen across trails, but navigating that was part of the fun.
Hiked a 9.5 mile route. So many options. Definitely bring a map. I downloaded mine from the web, unfortunately it prints out small. Worth it to hike to trail ledge, beautiful view of reservoir. Also went through the gorge.. that was nice too.
This was such an amazing experience! I took two candles, a few chalks a knife and a cat and the very first minutes I could already feel it was going to be a great night! I didn't had to look for a secluded place at all, I just walked for a bit and I was already lost. There are like a thousand trails and half of them looked pretty abandoned which was just perfect. You could feel the spirit of the thing! I quickly camped and drew a few stars on the ground just to practice. I thought I would have to fast for a day or two but there are a bunch of turtles there that taste really good! (And helped me with the cat, who needs a knife anyway? Those things bite hard!)
Going back to civilization was easy, you just walk in a straight line for a few dozen miles and you will get somewhere. Great place, already recommended it to all my friends that are looking for some experiences. Definitely worthy of its name.
Well marked trails of various lengths maintained by the Nature Conservancy. It can get muddy in many areas after a heavy rain fall. Trails are open from sunrise to sunset. Trails are for hiking or cross country skiing. No bikes are allowed. No pets or horses are allowed. Note: Due to overpopulation of deer Devil’s Den Preserve to Close on certain Weekdays during Nov and Dec for Limited Deer Hunt so please check the website for exact dates.
I went on a hike here with my boyfriend and was happy to see all the trails available. Pets and bikes aren't allowed so it makes this park much less crowded. The trails are well marked and some are less maintained, so its a nice experience for people looking for a bit more of an adventurous hike. There is not a lot of parking in the lot on the south side, not sure if there is another lot however?
